The TRUTH to Biblical Change

The TRUTH to Biblical Change

TRUTH:  We are influenced by society’s terms used to describe people…

TRUTH:  Godly people can influence society by holding to God’s view of people…

The TRUTH to biblical change is Colossians 2:1-13.  Claim # 1 to truth is v.1–5. A person cannot change and begin to understand how to live life or function apart from Christ. V.3 especially points this out, “in whom (Jesus) are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden…”

Claim #2 is v.9–12.   A person does not have the ability to live the life of a Christian apart from Christ.    If someone considers change in their life or is already experiencing change in their life, Jesus must be the FULLNESS of change. “…in him ye are made full”.  From baptism, life is in Him (v.12,13)…

Claim # 3 is v.6–8.   This claim comes with a WARNING. Refuse to be taken captive/abducted by false doctrines. There are philosophies in the world trying to take you away from Jesus Christ with a taste of spiritual philosophy, material gain, and emotional therapy. These philosophies can lead to psychiatric evaluations and a reassignment to whom you “feel” you are. Doubts enter your heart as to the infallible word of God. The idea to life may be, “what will be will be”, or thinking "this retreat will make the difference in my life...". There may also be a temptation toward “the church needs to be relevant to the needs of society...". Many of these philosophies make intellectual claims and are treated as higher than Christ...

Why is the focus upon these claims important?  Every day someone has a question about their marriage, job, and feelings. They choose to GOOGLE their answer to life, and the culture is their ‘self-help’, rather than CHRIST. The one who should be changing us is GOD. His process is “Sanctification”.  It is being born again, not revitalizing our career, establishing a better retirement plan, or preventing a nervous breakdown. Sanctification is the way God creates followers of Jesus, and when someone notices the change in your life, every Christian can say, “This was key in helping me when I struggled with that in those circumstances.”  The key is scripture, Jesus, and sanctification by the Holy Spirit into a new creature.
