A Reflection of God

A Reflection of God

The reason for most marriages will range from, “Well, we’re just in love.” to “I can’t see myself with anyone else but him/her.” to “We are best friends.”

Whatever your reason was for marriage besides making a proposal and accepting a proposal, look to your marriage in a godly measure by what it should be -  a reflection of the image of God. Rather than placing the heart of your marriage upon ME, place it upon God. Allow your marriage to have a God-centered purpose rather than a self-centered purpose.  Consider the thought of Psalm 34:3, “O magnify Jehovah with me, and let us exalt his name forever”. If you do, you will quickly understand……

            1. Why God brought the man and his wife together, and they were naked and not ashamed (Genesis 2:24,25;  Hebrews 13:4)…

            2. Why God place the relationship of marriage alongside the relationship of Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:22-33)…

            3. The reason a husband and wife need to safeguard their marriage by what they see, hear, and wear (Proverbs 5:15-10;  7:5-23;  1 Timothy 2:9,10)…

            4. The need to continually speak romantic words to your spouse and your spouse only -  “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine” (Song of Solomon 6:3)...

            5. Why a spouse surrenders his/her body to their mate without shame, hesitation, or excuse. Do not give your spouse the opportunity to lose self-control (1 Corinthians 7:2-5).

            6. The wholeness, holiness, and preservation of a nation depends upon one marriage held together by the Lord (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

            7. Why God hates divorce. A couple choosing this option for their marriage throws away the holiness God has placed within it (Matthew 19:4-6).

            8. What heaven will be like  - “as a bride adorned for her husband”, where nothing unclean or abomination is allowed to enter (Revelation 21:2,27).

Give your marriage the purpose with which it was originally intended to reflection all the glory, purity, godliness, beauty, and brilliance of God……
