Some Events Are Life Changing

The birth of your first child, moving into your first house, a doctor’s report of a disease, loss of job, parent’s divorce, or graduation from college. All of these and more bring changes in life never imagined or planned. Truth does the same thing to us. It will change our life from wrong to right, sorrow to joy, and despair to hope. Truth will always be truth whether we believe it or not. If it does not directly affect your life, the content of truth still has the power of credibility and durability. The truth God gives us in the Bible is not only given to pave the way from earth through heaven’s door, but it also changes your life.

A man who was an advocate for the poor talked about a conversation he had with a theologian. They were discussing the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The theologian made this observation:  “The evidence for Jesus’ resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things:  It is a very unusual event, and second, if you believe it happened, you have to change the way you live.”

That is something which directly applies to every person who reads and studies about Jesus dying on the cross and His resurrection. If you really believe Jesus rose again, such a belief mandates a change of life. Peter's life changed completely after he saw the resurrected Christ. He was once a hasty fisherman-disciple who denied knowing Christ after His arrest. After the resurrection, he became a bold teacher and witness for Him (John 18:17,25,27; Acts 2:14-36). Once Peter presented a message to those gathered on Pentecost about the same Jesus he once denied, those who heard were in the same position he once stood. Almost three thousand souls changed the way they lived that day (Acts 3:37-41).

Has belief in Jesus’ resurrection changed your life? Are your goals and priorities different than they were? Have kindness, love, patience, and forgiveness been introduced where they were previously absent?  Read the scripture to know what God wants to do in you. Obey Him to make the needed changes. Remember this, the same power God used to raise Jesus from the dead, the same power will work in you.
